Brush Prairie/Hockinson

Hockinson sits inside the Brush Prairie zip code, known for its beautiful rolling hills sitting just southeast of Battle Ground. In the 2010 census the population for Brush Prairie was 2,652 and Hockinson population at that time was estimated at 4,771

Hockinson's original name was Eureka, early settlers here were Finns and Swedish-speaking Finns for the Aaland Islands. In 1893 more than 100 Chinese were hired to dig the Eureka Ditch, which would drain a swampy agricultural area in East Clark county. This later became known as "China Ditch" and ran along 172nd avenue in Brush Prairie.

Hockinson has highly rated public schools, local Fire Station, 2 small convenience original one from 1928, a handful of churches and a Post Office located on the main street through Brush Prairie.

Sr 503 runs to the west of Brush Prairie which makes it a 25 minute jaunt to Portland, Oregon. The scenery changes from flat farm land in Brush prairie to rolling treed hills and up farther at higher elevation towards Larch Mountain.
